This model is a little different as you can see, one its a liner and two its sailing into the bottle not out of it! I have come to recognise this a s a cultural style over the years as all the bottles I have seen like this have had an Asian origin or style. traditionally they sail out of the bottle due to the raising of the masts by pulling the rigging thread through the bowsprit, thus needing the model to face the opening.
This is a great model with an almost cartoon feel to it. It is also named USA a small mistake as it is almost certainly the S.S. United States or the S.S. Australis as she was later called.Great colouring and an internal painted backdrop cause your eye to be drawn immediately to the interesting bottled ship.Would add a splash of colour and interest to any marine themed room.
Bottle is a Johnnie Walker Whisky and is 11 3/4” 300mm long x 3 1/4” 80mm square.

SS United States is a luxury passenger liner built in 1952 for United States Lines designed to capture the trans-Atlantic speed record.

Built at a cost of $78 million, the ship is the largest ocean liner constructed entirely in the US, the fastest ocean liner to cross the Atlantic in either direction, and even in her retirement retains the Blue Riband given to the passenger liner crossing the Atlantic Ocean in regular service with the record highest speed.

Her construction was partially subsidized by the US government, since she was designed to allow conversion to a troop carrier should the need arise. United States operated uninterrupted in transatlantic passenger service until 1969. Since 1996 she has been docked at Pier 82 on the Delaware River in Philadelphia.
