This is a beautifully detailed model made by the highly regarded maker Carlo Marquardt has been long out of production. Cargo liner (Reefer) built by Swan Hunter at Wallsend and completed in 1965, designed with a high service speed to operate alongside the Company’s mail ships on the Cape Town route. She was 10,538 gross tons, a twin-screw motor vessel capable of 27 knots, cargo capacity 380,300 cu. ft. refrigerated. Accommodation for 12 passengers was added in 1967 to cater for additional calls at the islands of Ascension and St. Helena. The Cape mail service ended in 1978, the ship was sold to the Costa Line of Genoa and renamed Franca C. Broken up at Dalian 1984.

Model is in good used condition, see the images, we have cleaned it as this collection was poorly stored by the previous owner. Approx. 145mm long or 5 3/4”
