This is a beautifully detailed model made by the highly regarded maker Carlo Marquardt has been long out of production. This liner started life as the Pasteur which was launched in 1938 and completed in 1939. She was scheduled to make her maiden voyage on Sept 10, 1939, but was cancelled due to the start of the war. On her first voyage in 1940, she transported the French gold reserves from Brest to Halifax. She then entered service as a troop transport under the British and returned to the French Government after the war. In 1957 she was sold to North German Lloyd, rebuilt, and renamed Bremen. In 1959 she made her first voyage from Bremerhaven to New York. In 1971 she was sold to Chandris and renamed Regina Magna. She was laid up in 1974 and eventually scrapped.
