This is a beautifully detailed model made by the highly regarded German maker Mercator has been long out of production. Italian Line SS Leonardo da Vinci ocean liner. The Leonardo da Vinci was built in 1958 as a replacement for the Andrea Doria that had been lost in 1956. She was the last Italian Line passenger liner to be used in service across the North Atlantic. Being perhaps one of the most nicely balanced ships designs of all time, she was unique also because she had provisions to be converted to nuclear power. In 1966, she was repainted in the new livery of the Italian line(white hull, longitudinal green decorative band.
Model is in very good used condition see the images, we have cleaned it as this collection was poorly stored by the previous owner. Approx. 190mm long or 7 1/2”
