The Spode company produced high quality ceramic products on the same factory site in Stoke-upon-Trent, North Staffordshire, England since it was established by Josiah Spode I in the late 1700s.

Beautiful Copeland Spode, Liverpool, England, jug or milk pitcher with a black transferware pattern of the ship of Thomas Coutts. One side of pitcher has ‘H.E.J.C. Thomas Coutts’ (Honourable East India Company) with the other side ‘Ship Friendship of Salem / Built 1797’. Stands approximately 5-1/4” 134mm tall and from spout to handle is approximately 5-1/2” 150mm.

Mark on its bottom is in black with “COPELAND / SPODE / ENGLAND / F 1149 (Feb 11th 1949)

Good overall condition some crazing to the glaze.
