AH 1/AB-47 This small helicopter with the lattice fuselage, features no external cladding can be considered the first true and reliable rotary wing machine. Initially developed as H-13 for the US Army was soon adopted by the armed forces of much of the Western world interested in the potential of this new medium. The version offered by this kit is representative of the aircraft produced under license in England and Italy where the aircraft were used until the ‘ 70 for training after serving the role of observation and ambulance.
B47G-3B-2 Sioux[edit]
Number 3 Squadron (Training Flight) of the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) still operates the B47G as an ab-initio training helicopter. The first helicopters to be flown by the RNZAF, six B47G-3B-1 (NZ3701 -NZ3706) were delivered in 1965. Seven B47G-3B-2 (NZ3707 – NZ3713) were purchased in 1968 and delivered during 1970. The five remaining Sioux in RNZAF service are all B47G-3B-2. All will be replaced in 2011 by the Augusta A109LUH.
